Chat timers: automatic messages in your stream chat

Post your socials, schedule or sponsor messages automatically with InstiBot timers. Set the interval, minimum chat activity, live-only posting and platforms.

Create a timer

  1. Open Chat Bot → Timers and press Add timer.
  2. Write the message, up to 500 characters. Variables like $(uptime) and $(game) work here.
  3. Pick an interval: the minimum time between two posts of this timer, from 5 to 60 minutes.
  4. Pick how many chat lines must arrive since its last post, so the bot doesn’t talk to an empty chat.
  5. Choose Online only (the default), Offline only or Anytime, and save.

Exactly when a timer posts

A timer posts when both conditions are met: its interval has passed since it last posted, and at least the chosen number of chat lines have arrived since then. Chat lines count every viewer message on every connected platform, including commands; messages removed by a moderation filter don’t count.

To keep chat readable, at most one timer message is posted per minute per channel. When several timers are due, they take turns.

Where timers post

Timers post on every connected platform where the bot can chat. If two or more such platforms are connected, a checkbox per platform lets you pick where each timer goes. Kick and Twitch accept timers whenever the bot is on; YouTube only while you are live; TikTok never, because it is read-only for bots.

Messages that work well

Short, useful lines with one clear call to action perform best. Rotate a few instead of repeating one.

Limits and tips

  • Free channels can have 20 timers, Premium channels 100.
  • Timers only run while the Chat Bot is on.
  • In timers $(user) is your own name, and $(count) has no value.
  • After a server restart the chat line counters start from zero, so timers wait for fresh chat before posting again.
  • There is no fixed clock schedule; timers run on intervals and chat activity.

Questions

Why didn’t my timer post?

Check that the interval has passed, that enough chat lines arrived, that Access matches whether you are live, and that the Chat Bot is on. If another timer posted in the last minute, yours takes its turn next.

Can a timer post only on Kick?

Yes, when more than one platform is connected, untick the platforms it shouldn’t use.
