Chatbot
Custom chat commands for Kick, Twitch and YouTube
Create chat commands with InstiBot: replies, aliases, cooldowns, ranks, prices in points, keyword triggers and variables like $(user) and $(uptime).
Create your first command
Every command you create answers on the platform it was typed on, so one command works on Kick, Twitch and YouTube at the same time. Commands typed in TikTok chat are answered on your other connected platforms, because bots cannot post in TikTok chat.
- Open Chat Bot in the dashboard and choose the Commands tab. Custom commands are yours; Default commands are the built-in ones every channel gets.
- Press Add command and type the name viewers will use, without the prefix. Names can be up to 32 characters with no spaces.
- Write the message the bot should send. A live preview below the field shows how variables will look.
- Choose who can use it, a cooldown and, if you like, a price in points. Save, then type the command in your chat to try it.

!uptime → We have been live for $(uptime).
!roll → $(user) rolled $(random 1-100).
!hug → $(user) hugs $(touser)!
!deaths → I have died $(counter deaths) times today.Every option in the editor
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Command | The name after the prefix. Names and aliases must be unique across all commands, including the default ones. |
| Alias | Up to 10 other names for the same command, separated by commas. |
| Message | The reply, up to 500 characters on the free plan and 2000 on Premium. |
| Rank | Who can use it: Anyone, Subscriber, VIP, Moderator or Owner. Higher ranks pass lower gates, so a moderator can use a Subscriber command. |
| Cooldown | From none to 10 minutes. Global means once per cooldown for the whole chat; Per user means each viewer waits on their own. Moderators and the owner skip cooldowns. |
| Access | Anytime, Online only or Offline only. Online means live on any connected platform. |
| Price | Points the command costs. It only charges when the points system is on. |
| Activation | Command (typed with the prefix) or Chat keyword (Premium): the bot replies whenever the word appears anywhere in a message. |
Variables
Variables are written as $(name) and are filled in when the command runs: $(user) is the viewer who typed it, $(touser) the first word after the command, $(args) everything after it, and $(uptime), $(title) and $(game) describe your stream. A variable that can’t be resolved stays as plain text, which makes typos easy to spot.
Some variables take a value: $(random 1-100) picks a number, $(random red, blue, green) picks from a list, $(time Europe/London) shows the time in a time zone and $(countdown 2026-12-31T20:00) counts down to a date. The full list with examples is in the commands and variables reference.
Random replies and keyword commands
On Premium, write several messages on separate lines and the bot picks one at random each time. On the free plan only the first line is sent.
A keyword command (Premium, up to 10) answers whenever its word appears anywhere in a chat message, without the prefix. Matching is case-insensitive and whole-word, and rank, access, cooldown and price still apply. Use them for questions viewers keep asking, like “discord” or “specs”.
Default commands
Every channel gets a set of default commands such as !commands, !uptime, !followage, !so, !title, !game, !addcom and the commands for points, games and song requests. You can rename them, add aliases, change who can use them and edit their replies, but you can’t delete them; switch one off instead. A warning icon next to a default command means the feature it needs, for example the points system, is turned off.
Moderators can manage simple commands from chat: !addcom !name message creates one, !editcom changes its message and !delcom removes it.
Plan limits
If you move back to the free plan, your newest commands above the limit are marked “Paused by plan” and come back when you upgrade again.
| Free | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Custom commands | 100 | Unlimited |
| Keyword commands | Not available | 10 |
| Random replies | First line only | Yes |
| Message length | 500 characters | 2000 characters |
| $(urlfetch) | Not available | Yes |
When a command doesn’t answer
- The command is switched off or marked “Paused by plan”.
- The Chat Bot is off, or the bot is paused for that platform on the Platforms page.
- The viewer’s rank is too low, or Access doesn’t match whether you are live.
- It is on cooldown. Commands on cooldown stay silent instead of posting a wait message.
- It has a price and the viewer can’t afford it.
- A moderation filter removed the message first, for example because it contained a link.
- There is a space after the prefix: “! hello” is not a command.
Questions
Can I import commands from another bot?
Yes. Chat Bot → Extras → Import from other bots reads your public command lists from Nightbot, StreamElements, Fossabot and other bots, or a file you paste, and shows every command before anything is saved.
Where can viewers see all my commands?
On your public command list, linked from the Public list button and from the !commands reply. It shows every enabled command with its reply and who can use it.
Can I change the ! prefix?
