Subathon timer for OBS that grows with subs, gifts and tips

Run a subathon with InstiBot: a countdown overlay that adds time for subs, gifted subs, KICKs, Bits, follows and tips, with chat controls and milestones.

Set up a subathon

  1. Open Widgets → Subathon.
  2. Set the start duration (60 minutes by default) and, if you want one, a maximum length.
  3. Choose how much time each event adds under Time per event.
  4. Pick a style, title and colours, and add milestones if you plan rewards at certain lengths.
  5. Press Start subathon when you are ready. The timer appears on your overlay from that moment.

Time per event

Events from every connected platform count the same. Raids, chat activity and channel-point redemptions don’t add time. Events only count while the subathon is running or paused.

EventDefaultNotes
Sub60 secondsCounts new subs and, unless you turn it off, resubs.
Gifted sub60 seconds eachA gift of 5 adds five times as much.
KICKs, Bits and TikTok coins60 seconds per 100Counted pro rata, so 50 adds half.
Tip12 seconds per unitPayPal tips and YouTube Super Chats in your tip currency.
FollowOff (0)Set a value to let follows add time.

Control it from chat

Anyone can type !subathon to see the time left. Moderators can start, pause, resume, add or remove time and reset it. Times can be minutes (10) or use a unit: 90s, 15m or 1.5h.

Control it from the dashboard

The Timer card shows the status and has Start, Pause, Resume and Reset, plus buttons to add or remove 1, 5 or 10 minutes and a box for any number of minutes. Manual changes aren’t limited by the maximum length.

The timer’s state is saved on the server, so it survives an OBS restart, a refreshed overlay and server updates. Once it reaches zero it shows your ended text until you start again or reset.

Look and milestones

Choose from four styles (Card, Text only, One line and Stacked), a time format, fonts, colours, borders and images beside or behind the timer. Each time event adds time, the added amount and who added it pop up on the timer, with an optional sound.

Add up to 20 milestones such as “12 hours: face reveal”. With “Show the next milestone” on, the overlay always shows the next one not yet reached.

Explain your rules to viewers

Publish how much time each event adds and keep it in line with your settings; the line under the timer is a good place for “!subathon for the rules”. Tips only count in your channel’s tip currency, so a Super Chat in another currency plays its alert but doesn’t add time.

Before a long stream

  • Use the test buttons: the added time pops up on the overlay without changing the real timer.
  • Decide on a maximum length before you start. Events stop adding time once it is reached.
  • Make sure your moderators know the !subathon commands.
  • Keep the overlay URL private.
