Song requests for Kick, Twitch and YouTube chat

Let viewers request YouTube songs with !sr. Play the queue in an OBS dock, show a now-playing overlay and control limits, costs and vote skips.

Set up song requests

The dock is the player, so keep it open while you stream. Requests made while no player is open wait in the queue.

  1. Open Interaction → Song request and switch song requests on in the Settings tab. They are off by default.
  2. On the Player & queue tab, copy the Song requests dock URL and add it in OBS under Docks → Custom Browser Docks.
  3. Click once inside the dock: browsers only start audio after an interaction. From then on the queue plays by itself.
  4. Add the now-playing overlay from the same tab if you want the current song on stream.

Chat commands

Requests accept YouTube and YouTube Music links, Shorts or a video ID. Live streams, private videos and videos that can’t be embedded are refused, and playlists aren’t supported.

Rules for requests

A song that is already in the queue can’t be requested twice. Songs you add yourself from the dashboard skip the viewer rules, but not the blocked list or the queue size.

SettingDefaultWhat it changes
Max length6 minutesLonger videos are refused.
Max songs per viewer2Songs waiting in the queue per viewer.
Queue size15Up to 15 on the free plan and 50 on Premium.
Votes to skip5Different viewers needed to skip a song.
Cost per requestFreePoints per request, when the points system is on.
Subscribers onlyOffSubscribers, VIPs and moderators can request.
Blocked videosNoneUp to 500 videos that can never be requested.

Controlling the queue

From the dashboard or the dock you can play, pause, skip, change the volume, remove songs, drag them into a new order, add a song yourself and clear the queue. If three songs in a row fail to play, the queue stops so it doesn’t skip through everything; press Play to continue. The history tab lists every played and skipped song.

Music rights

A viewer requesting a song doesn’t give you the right to broadcast it. Check the rules of the platforms you stream to, and use the blocked list or subscriber-only mode if you need tighter control.
