Chatbot
Chat moderation bot: filters, timeouts and a live mod console
Protect your stream chat with InstiBot: caps, links, emotes, symbols, bad words, raid protection and a shared ban list, plus a live mod console for Kick.
The seven filters
Open Chat Bot → Moderation. Every filter starts switched off; turn on the ones you need and press Configure to tune them.
| Filter | What it catches |
|---|---|
| Caps protection | Messages written mostly in capitals. Default: 70% capitals, messages of 15 characters or more. Letters without capitals, like Hebrew, don’t count. |
| Link protection | Links, including disguised ones like “site dot com” or site[.]com. Allowed domains (kick.com by default) pass. |
| Emote protection | More than 10 emotes in one message. Works on Kick and Twitch. |
| Symbol protection | Messages full of symbols, or the same character repeated more than 10 times. |
| Bad words protection | Words and phrases on your blocklist, with wildcards and leetspeak detection. |
| Raid protection | Waves of the same message from many first-time chatters, like a bot or hate raid. |
| Shared ban list | Accounts that several other InstiBot channels banned or caught in a raid wave. |
Actions and exceptions
Each filter has the same action settings. The offending message is always deleted; choose Timeout or Ban to add a penalty. Timeouts run from 1 minute to 7 days.
Escalate repeat offences turns the filter into three steps: the first offence deletes the message, a second within 10 minutes times the viewer out, and a third gives a ten times longer timeout. Offences are counted across all filters.
Exempt ranks skip the filter: moderators are exempt by default, and you can add subscribers and VIPs. The channel owner and the bot are never moderated. Optional warnings tell the viewer why their message went, at most once every 15 seconds.
Links and !permit
Link protection blocks web addresses unless the domain is on your allowed list; subdomains of an allowed domain pass too. A moderator can let one viewer post a single link with !permit, valid for 60 seconds by default. You can also let subscribers and VIPs post links freely.
!permit @viewerBad words, wildcards and regex
Add words or phrases to the blocklist, up to 2000 entries. “Match whole words only” avoids catching words inside longer ones, and “Catch leetspeak” also matches spellings like 4 for a or 3 for e. A * inside an entry acts as a wildcard.
Premium channels can add regular expressions written as /pattern/. On the free plan regex entries are kept but ignored.
Raid protection and the shared ban list
Raid protection looks for the same message from 5 or more chatters within 30 seconds, by default only counting first-time chatters. It acts on every message in the wave, including the earlier ones, with a 10 minute timeout by default. You can limit it to the minutes right after a raid.
The shared ban list bans accounts that at least three other InstiBot channels banned permanently or caught in a raid wave. Only the number of channels is shared, never which ones, and flags expire after 60 days.
The live mod console
The mod console lives on the Stream control page. It shows chat as it arrives, with each viewer’s rank, a “New” tag for first messages and a warning if other channels flagged them. Hover a message to delete it, time the viewer out for 1, 10 or 60 minutes, or ban them; click a name for the viewer’s history.
The side panel holds the moderation log, a moderators overview for the last 30 days and ban appeals, which viewers send from your public appeal page.
Platforms
Filters read chat on every connected platform. Deleting, timeouts and bans work on Kick, Twitch and YouTube. TikTok doesn’t allow bots to moderate, so a TikTok message that breaks a rule is only kept away from commands and points. Actions run with your own channel’s permission, so on Kick they appear as taken by you.
Questions
Does InstiBot need to be a moderator?
Filters work with your channel’s permission, so moderation doesn’t depend on it. Making the bot a moderator with /mod InstiBot is still recommended so it can chat freely.
Is moderation free?
Yes. All seven filters, the mod console, ban appeals and the shared ban list are on the free plan. Only regex entries in the bad words list need Premium.
Can my moderators change the filters?
Team members with the Moderator role can use the mod console but not edit filters. Give someone the Editor role, or the “Edit moderation filters” permission, to let them change settings.
